GARA Cookout and Field Day Activities

This year, the board has decided to do something different and hold our annual cookout in conjunction with Field Day activities.  Hopefully this will provide an opportunity for members to participate on the air for Field Day while enjoying food and camaraderie.  Since the cookout will be held at the Field Day location (Tannenbaum Park at the corner of Battleground Avenue and New Garden Road in Greensboro), there will be a few minor logistical and menu changes to help make things work more smoothly.  The menu changes should also help accommodate more people.  Here are the details:

• The cookout will be held between 4:30 and 6:00pm on Saturday, June 25 @ Tannenbaum Park, near the Colonial Heritage Center.
• There will be four dinner items to choose from: hot dogs, bratwurst, pizza or salad.  Each meal is $7.00.  There is a maximum cost of $20 per family.
• Please make a reservation if you plan to attend.  That will help us buy the appropriate amount of food and keep costs to the club down.  All reservations should be made online on this page (link).  You can choose which meals you would like and pay via PayPal on the website.  You do not need a PayPal account to pay for the meal.
• There will be tables and chairs available but we would like to make this a community-style event, so please plan on bringing lawn chairs or other portable seating for you and your family.  An indoor area will be available in the event of rain.  Restrooms are also available nearby.

Please pass this information along to any other area hams who may like to attend but aren’t currently involved with a club.  It should prove to be a great time to fellowship over food, while providing an opportunity for everyone to get on the air and make some QSOs for Field Day.

As a reminder: the Cookout will serve as the June GARA meeting so there will not be a regular meeting at Captain Bill’s Seafood in June.
