HF Operating Event

Open to all hams! GARA will be hosting an HF operating event on Saturday, October 5 beginning at 8:00am. Our host, Melanie Meeks, KQ4EKR, has made her family farm available for our club to use for the day. There are restrooms and other facilities easily available on premises. This event will be somewhat informal in that you're encouraged to bring your own portable HF gear to setup and work alongside everyone else!  Even though we won't be at a park, we will all operate "POTA-style" with portable radios, antennas and power, but we will all use a common callsign.  Come anytime throughout the day, set up your radio and have some ...

New Meeting Location, and D-star for Beginners

Meeting times will stay the same, but we'll try out our new location on Monday, July 22. Our meeting this month will focus on one of the earliest digital modes: D-star. We'll give an overview of what it is and how it works, what radios work with it and how you can be involved! Scott Toth, ND4L will use an excellent presentation by Roland Krantz, W9HPX (SK) to explain D-star in an ...
